Panelized Construction

Frequently, panelized housing is confused with other types of housing construction processes. Few realize that a stick built home is usually constructed by using panelized construction methods.

After the foundation is prepared to receive a stick built home, the first floor of the home (referred to as the first floor deck) is constructed. The usual process at this point is to build, flat on the deck, a section/panel of the first floor wall consisting of studding, upper and lower plates and exterior sheathing. This panel is then placed into position. The next panel is constructed in the same way and placed into position. This continues until the first floor walls are complete. In a two, or more story home, the process is repeated for each story and then the roof trusses, which are usually constructed off-site, are moved into position.

When Vermont Built, Inc. constructs your home, instead of each panel being built on site, one by one, it utilizes Barden's design, engineering, production and delivery skills and resources to build all of the panels and trusses under controlled conditions in their production facility, and deliver these panels on a tractor trailer with attached crane to the house site. This enables Vermont Built, Inc. to place panels into position one after another using the truck's attached crane. This means we can construct your home in a more efficient, faster time frame with high quality materials, and with reduced labor costs at the home site.

The wall panels do not come with any siding, window/doors, insulation, wiring, plumbing, or sheetrock in place. The door and window openings are framed, but all of the aforementioned are completed on site.
