La Force Descendants In North America reflects an organized condensation (500 pages) of the large volume of La Force related materials, which I have gathered over the past thirty years. It is a combination of information obtained from my own research done in many libraries, archival depositories, and related historical sites throughout parts of the United States and Canada, as well as information provided to me by many individuals. | ||
| From my research, I discovered four distinct lines of La Forces in the United States and Canada. I refer to them as the Virginia Line, The Canadian La Force Line, The Mohawk La Force Line and the Pouchat La Force Line. |

This book contains lineage from each of these lines with a total indexed database of connected individuals (connected within each line) of over 8000 persons. The information is presented in a way that allows for easy tracing from an individual listed in the lineage section of the book to any of his or her ancestors, or descendants included in the data base. Even though the lineage of some lines reaches to the present day, I have limited most of the family history chapters in the book to the early La Forces. To do otherwise would have made the task endless and a book meaningful to all La Force descendants, difficult to bring to fruition. The family history portion deals mostly with the La Forces during their early days on this continent to the end of the French and Indian War (Seven Years War), with a large portion of my research surrounding the La Forces and their activities during that war. In addition to the book's lineage portion, it includes The Early Days; The Next Generation: Pierre The Explorer and Lemier/Marsolet; La Forces in the French and Indian War; French-Canadian Surnames; Land Grants; The La Force Family in Virginia by Frances Casstevens (a descendant and researcher of the Virginia line); The La Forces of the Mohawk Line - One Person's Dilemma by James La Force (a descendant and researcher of the Mohawk La Force line); and, copies of several historical documents. The family history chapters of the book are also indexed. La Force Descendants In North America is the result of several thousands of hours of research and writing which I hope will be beneficial to those La Forces simply interested in their ancestry and will be a useful resource and tool to those interested in extending and adding to the La Force history that I have initiated in this book. © 2001-2008 Paul W.
