The Construction Process

Here the photograph shows the clearing that has been made in the existing tree cover. This unimproved lot required substantial planning in the layout of the 400 foot driveway and the placement of the home to meet the privacy and aesthetic expectations of the buyer.
Water drainage systems, seasonal access, and snow removal are basic components in placing the new driveway depicted in this photo.

To insure proper water drainage on a lot with elevation changes, careful
consideration is given to the grade surrounding the home. In this instance, Paul Truax, holding grading rod, and the excavation contractor discuss site requirements for a walkout basement door.

One of the challenges in digging the cellar hole is holding the bottom of the excavation close to level. Another is keeping the predetermined footprint of the home in the same place as was staked before the digging began.

A foundation properly constructed with the necessary drains around the footings helps to insure not only a dry basement, but also the proper beginning of a well constructed home.

The home starts with the building of the first floor deck in preparation for the arrival and placement of the pre-constructed partitions and trusses.
Most two-story homes arrive in two loads, the first containing partitions for the first and second floor deck material. The second load includes partitions for the second floor, trusses, roof sheathing, and other roofing material. The 70-foot long tractor-trailer has an attached crane which lifts each partition onto the deck, fitting it into the space for which it has been designed.

Square and plumb are the words for the day as the two partitions that form the beginning corner for the first floor are lowered into place.
Here we see the cable attached to a wall section as it is moved into place. Before each partition is moved, the deck is marked with chalk to insure proper placement.
In this photo the trusses, looking much like a ribcage, are in place.

The highest point of the home is lowered onto the spot that has been awaiting its arrival.
. On will go the roof to be followed by the installation of the windows and doors.

Then begins the rough wiring and the rough plumbing

To be followed by insulating of walls and ceilings, and sheetrocking.

Then it is onto painting, trim installation, ,
finish flooring installation,
ss cabinetry and countertop installation,
and the installation of light fixtures along with plumbing fixtures.
